My feet are still sore; my back is on the fringes: Do you ever stop and really think about Irish dance as it is right... -

There has been an explosion in dress designs, seeming as if a new concept emerges every day. You can wear any style (within reason), and it is in fashion. Dancers are wearing everything from tutus and bling to panels and embroidery. You have a choice of what style you want to sport. Same for hairstyles, whether you want to wear a wig or style your natural hair. And within those two choices are numerous amounts of options to choose from. Dressmakers and TCs have so much creative freedom and they are taking advantage of it. Steps are becoming increasingly intricate and powerful, giving dancers a new challenge and new movements to master every day. We are getting a surge of new, young TCs who have so much talent and drive and will help style the next generation of dance schools. Young men and women are taking a chance with other talents and creating new businesses for themselves, like designing new shoes, dresses and accessories. Dance is expanding all over the world, and new competitions and championships are being created. New countries are being represented every year. And the Internet is playing a huge role in helping TCs and dancers communicate with others, regardless of the distance. The next few years are going to see this new wave of dance mature, and new dancers will be introduced in the competition scene. New TCs have opportunities to travel the world and teach in new places, and as those grow new committees and feiseanna will need to be organized. The coming years are going to see so much change and growth and we as active dancers are a huge driving force behind it. YOU are currently shaping our world.
